Immaculately preserved and perfectly restored, Chichen Itza is arguably the most famous archaeological site in Mexico. The good news is that most of the trip is on one highway, with D taking you from the heart of Cancun to 6 kilometers outside Chichen Itza. You will still need to find transport from Valladolid to Chichen Itza. Most of these visitors stay in Cancun, a well-known touristic city in the Mexican Caribbean. This is a great and affordable way to get around within Mexico and Amy has used this quite a few times during her time there and felt perfectly safe.
